IRS Recognizes 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Status

On July 7, 2026, Friends of Healing Springs Natural Area, Inc. received a determination letter from the Internal Revenue Service confirming that the organization is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

This recognition reflects the organization’s purpose: conservation, education, and stewardship of the spring-fed watershed ecosystem of Healing Springs Natural Area and Little Osage Creek.

What This Means for Supporters

Contributions to Friends of Healing Springs Natural Area, Inc. are now tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donors may deduct qualifying gifts under IRC Section 170.

The organization is also qualified to receive tax-deductible bequests, devises, transfers, or gifts under Sections 2055, 2106, and 2522, as applicable.

Stewardship Work Continues

Tax-exempt status supports our ability to pursue grants, accept donations, and build the organizational capacity needed for long-term watershed stewardship. Our board and volunteers remain focused on conservation priorities at Healing Springs Natural Area — including streambank stabilization, habitat restoration, trail stewardship, and community engagement.
